Cross walk: Chosen one will be whipped

ONE of the 130 Catholic youths who have been on a cross walk since Saturday will be picked to act as Jesus in the final stage of the Stations of the Cross when the week-long walk ends at the Ashram, in Momi, Nadi, tomorrow.

Father Ioane Gukibau of Sacred Heart Parish, in Suva, said youths from around Fiji, especially the greater Suva area, had been on the road carrying a cross since last week, with the climax being the dramatisation Christ's crucifixion.

"Those youths who are walking don't know yet on who is going to act in the role of Jesus," he said.

Mr Gukibau said the chosen one, "will be whipped similar to what Jesus went through before he was crucified".

Did anyone see Passion of the Christ? This statement from Mr. Gukibau ("...will be whipped similar to what Jesus went through...") makes me wonder... more like scared!
